Boy's Bubble with Shaped Lace Collar

This wonderful boy's bubble was created from blue Pima broadcloth using Sarah Howard Stone's Meriwhether pattern. The shaped collar which is based on the collar included in the pattern was drawn off and an embroidery design added to fit within the curve of the shaped lace.

The front yoke features lace insertions and beading as well as pressed tucks. The laces used in this design are vintage ones that I have collected over time.

All Lace Modified French Bonnet

This precious bonnet was made using the Sarah Howard Stone's Le Petit Enfant Bonnet pattern with a few modifications. The pattern piece for the puff was narrowed both in width and length. I created this sweet bonnet entirely from French Valenciennes lace and Spanish lace. Since the puff was made of lace, I felt it needed the structure the cluny lace offered. Both the headband and crown were made using the same lace as the puff.

The bonnet has detachable streamers and rosettes and can be changed out to coordinate with the dress being worn. I created set of streamers and matching rosettes in ecru, pink, and red satin ribbon.

French Bonnet with Drawstring Crown

This beautiful bonnet was created using Sarah Howard Stone's Le Petite Enfant Bonnet pattern. Instead of the lace crown, we created a casing for a drawstring closure. We also replaced the fabric streamers with satin double-faced ribbon.

Coordinating Basic Yoke Dresses for Twin Girls

The following dresses were created for two-year old twins. We used coordinating French Maline laces and we made slight adjustments to the overall dress to create two unique dresses.

The first dress features an all lace yoke with two lace bands, a puffing band, and a gathered lace ruffle. The bottom of the front and back yoke is embellished with a fancy entredeux beading.

The second dress features a Swiss embroidery band instead of a puffing band. The lace selection was slightly different but still uses French Maline laces.

We also created matching French bonnets for each dress.

Christening Gown with Lace and Tucked Panel

This stunning gown features a front panel that consists of lace insertions coupled with tucked strips. The laces used in this gown are Spanish Cluny laces and French Valenciennes laces (floral). The panel is edged in Spanish Cluny insertion.

The yoke consists of tucked strips and cluny insertion. The neck is finished with a narrow cluny edging. The bottom of the front and back yoke has cluny insertion applied horizontally.

The skirt bottom consists of lace bands and is finished with a floral edging which is applied flat. The gown has a built-in liner also edged in the floral lace edge.

Heirloom Tatting to Create a Daygown and Baby Dress

My favorite things to create are items using materials that have been in a family or have been created by a beloved family member. The beautiful ecru tatting, the pink tatted insertion, and the pink and teal crocheted edging were made by a precious family member and I was asked to create two baby items out of them.

The first item consisted of about 3 yards of ecru tatting. The tatted edges were in several length with one tatting larger than the others. I created a ragland sleeve daygown using the smaller edging on the placket and neck of the gown and the larger edging on the sleeve ruffle.

I added embroidery to the placket between the top four buttons and add additional embroidery on the bottom of the skirt. The embroidery consists of satin stitched leaves and bullion daisies in ecru thread.

The second item I created was a baby dress using the pink insertion and edging. The front and back yokes feature embroidery using bullion leaves and bullion roses. The bottom of the yokes are finished with the pink insertion applied horizontally. The skirt also has embroidery on the center bottom. The dress is finished to a length of twenty-two inches and it has a built-in hemmed liner. I tatted a small edging for the neck edge in the same color as the other tatting. This sweet dress has long sleeves which are finished with a fabric ruffle edged in the multi-colored crocheted edging.
